Showing
your Home to Prospective Purchasers
Before the showing, open all the drapes if it’s a
bright sunny day, turn on all the lights if its gloomy outside or if it
is evening.
Make sure the beds are made up and stairways and
halls are free from obstacles.
Make sure TVs and radios are off.
Three’s a crowd. Avoid having too many people
present for a showing. The Purchaser will feel like an intruder and will
hurry through your house. Have one person only show the house. Offer to
open closets and storage for the prospects.
Some people don’t like animals. Your pets should be
outside or confined during the showing.
Be courteous but don’t feel you have to have a
conversation with the Purchasers. They are there to view the property, not
to socialize.
Don’t try to sell your furniture or other belongings
to the Prospects. This may lose you the sale.
Never apologize for the appearance of your home. It
doesn’t have to be perfect and being apologetic may bring the value down
in the eyes of the prospect.
Don’t discuss price or terms until the showing is
over. |
